Church of England Cross

The Beacon Benefice

Our services

We hold a variety of services around the Benefice at different times of day. All our welcome at these services. If you are new to church, please feel free to come along and join us – the notes below give an idea of the different types of service.

If you are new here, the different styles of service in the benefice are shown here. See the services sheet (above) to find service times.

  • Family services, as the name implies, are best suited to include children of all ages.
  • Praise services are for those who prefer a less formal style of service, tending to use the more modern hymns.
  • Communion services follow the modern Church of England service, with a variety of both old and modern hymns.
  • BCP Services use the Book of Common Prayer, created in 1666. Some find its language, though old, of great beauty and reverence.

After the service

Morning services are often followed by tea or coffee – please do stay if you wish. Our churches are all old, and some lack modern facilities within the main church building.

Visitors

Those visiting as tourists are requested to avoid sightseeing during services. You are always welcome to join in with the service, which is shared time for reverence.
