Church Life
‘Learning to live in the light of God’s love’
About Us
Hi, my name is Sarah and I am Rector of this fabulous group of seven rural, Cotswold Church of England parishes known collectively as the Beacon Benefice. Along with our dedicated church wardens and ministry team, I am committed to leading and shaping a biblically-rooted, Christ-centred culture of care, curiosity, courage, growth and celebration.
What this actually means is that above all else we aim to be open and accessible to all generations, welcoming and growing the faith of the whole, diverse people of God – we are all his VIPs!
Outside of our worship, prayer and discipleship groups, we hope you will notice just how many ways we try to enrich the communities that we belong to.
You will find us volunteering at our local care homes, running parenting courses and toddler groups, serving at our community coffee mornings and village events, and supporting our local businesses, pubs, groups and clubs, as well as individuals in our communities who are going through tough times.
This all involves a lot of fun, faith, friendship, prayer, commitment and hard work – and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
Finally, you need to know that in the Beacon Benefice we readily admit we are all ‘works in progress’, so our churches will often hear me say that together, we are learning to live in the light of God’s love… Please come and discover what this means for yourself – everyone is welcome, and we’d love to share this journey of faith with you.
Discipleship
Being new to a community can feel daunting, but it is also an opportunity for welcome, support, and belonging. A church can provide a place of spiritual grounding, friendship, and encouragement, where newcomers are not just visitors but are embraced as family in Christ. Beyond worship, the Beacon Benefice offers a network of care—helping people connect with others, serve together, and find comfort in times of need. By opening its doors and hearts, the church helps transform a new place into a true home.
Prayer & Worship
We hold a variety of services around the Benefice at different times of day. All our welcome at these services.
If you are new to church, please feel free to come along and join us.

Safeguarding
Sometimes people don’t know who to turn to if they feel uncomfortable, worried, or unsafe, which is why we have a dedicated safeguarding team ready to listen and support you.
Life Events
Baptisms
In Baptism, parents thank God for His gift of life and make a decision to start the child on the journey of faith and ask for the Church’s support.
Weddings
We are delighted to welcome couples for their wedding in any of our churches within the Benefice. A church wedding can be a truly special and memorable occasion.
Funerals
A funeral is used to mark the end of a person’s life here on earth. Family and friends come together to express grief, give thanks for the life lived and commend the person into God’s keeping.
