Edge Church
Our church building, although built in a fork between two main roads, is blessed with a lovely peaceful setting. The view from our churchyard is amazing, with views of the Brecon Beacons, Gloucester and most of the southern Vale of the Severn.
Important to our church, are its links with the Village Hall and the Women’s Institute. Annual events such as the Harvest Festival and the Christmas carol service are well supported in the village and other celebrations such as the Christmas Lunch are real community events. Hosted by the church in the Village Hall are ‘Flix in the Sticks’, a monthly film event and the coffee morning held on the last Friday of the month. A traditional Summer Fete and Autumn Show are held in alternate years.
The Remembrance Sunday service alternates with Harescombe and a traditional Plough Sunday service is held in January.
The churchyard is covered in snowdrops in January and February and recently we have celebrated with “Snowdrop-in”, weekends when the church hosts history displays and where refreshments are available, too.
Where to find us…
Edge Church sits on the A4173 main road from Stroud to Gloucester, just above our village of Edge. Newcomers to the village often wonder why the church is not nestled in among the village houses. This is because it was built by Samuel Whitfield Daukes in 1865 as a Chapel of Ease, and became a parish church a few years later.

Discipleship
Being new to a community can feel daunting, but it is also an opportunity for welcome, support, and belonging. A church can provide a place of spiritual grounding, friendship, and encouragement, where newcomers are not just visitors but are embraced as family in Christ. Beyond worship, the Beacon Benefice offers a network of care—helping people connect with others, serve together, and find comfort in times of need. By opening its doors and hearts, the church helps transform a new place into a true home.
Prayer & Worship
We hold a variety of services around the Benefice at different times of day. All our welcome at these services.
If you are new to church, please feel free to come along and join us.
